Three sections in one volume:[6], 342, 183, [13], xvii, [missing 9]. 36 cm. Special print title pages for sections two and three, dozens of woodcuts, some signed.
First German edition of some sections of the writings of historian Josephus Flavius. Includes The Antiquities of the Jews,  regarding Jewish history until the Great Revolt (Josephus was a commander in the Galilee and later a historian in Rome), and two additional sections about Jerusalem and the great rebellion taken from The Jewish War. This edition, with Lautenbach's translation, served as the basis for dozens of additional editions that were published over the next centuries.
Leather-covered wooden boards with many decorations, original. Restored spine. Missing clasps. Reinforced title page. Minimal worming holes. The bottom corner of the last leaves of the end section were restored, affecting solitary letters. Missing the nine last leaves with indexes. Fine condition.
