V.E. DAY VICTORY MESSAGE FROM BERNARD LAW MONTGOMERY
Original war date naval transcript of a received radio message, 3pp. 4to., May 8, 1945 sent by Field Marshal BERNARD LAW MONTGOMERY congratulating all members of the Royal Navy on the Allied victory in the war in Europe. In part: '...Throughout our long journey from Egypt to the Baltic the success achieved by the British Armies has been made possible only by the magnificent support given to us by the Royal Navy...I want to thank you and all those gallant sailors who have supported us with such valor. We soldiers owe the Royal Navy a great deal of gratitude.' Included at the end is of the text is the transcript of the response from ANDREW CUNNINGHAM, Vice Admiral of the Royal Navy. File holes at the top of the page, else fine condition.
