Rare. Tzeddakah Chaim, Kitzur Sefer Me'il Tzeddakah by Rabbi Eliyahu Hacohen of Izmir, authored by Rabbeinu Chaim Palagi, first edition, Izmir, 1873.

On the title page, a stamp and ownership notation in Sephardic script: "הצעיר יוסף בכה"ר אור זצוק"ל ס"ט". Presumably, the script is that of Rabbi Yosef ben Mula babi Or Sheraga, one of the sages of Yazd, Persia, was known for his piousness and seclusion, corresponded with Rabbi Eliyaho Manny of Hebron. Rabbi Yosef authored a commentary on Tehillim yet the manuscript was lost over time. Presumably, he was a descendent of Mula Or Sheraga Yazdi the first.

Rabbeinu the Chabif, Rabbi Chaim Palagi (1778-1868) of of the greatest Poskim and Kabbalists of Eastern Jews of all times. Was born in Izmir to his father Rabbi Yaakov. On his mother's side, he was a descendent of the Rishon LeZion Rabbi Yosef Raphael ben Chaim Chazan author of the "Chikrei Lev" and was even his Meshamesh as a young boy. Eventually he received his Semicha from him. In his Sefer "Tzava'ah MiChaim", Rabbi Chaim recalls his early years: "May heaven and earth be my witnesses that since the day I became knowledgeable until I was twenty years old I would study diligently day and night without any Bitul". Among others, Rabbi Chaim studied Torah with Rabbi Pinchas di Shigura. In 1837, Rabbi Chaim was appointed Av Beis Din of the great Beis Din of Izmir and in 1855 was appointed the "Chacham Bashi" of the Jews of Turkey. Rabbi Chaim authored dozens of compositions on all subjects of the Torah.
