Rabbeinu the Pri Megadim, Rabbi Yosef Teomim (1727-1792) one of the greatest Poskim of all generations. Studied Torah with his father Rabbi Meir Dayan in Lemberg. In his youth, he lived in Komarna where he served as a Melamed. Later, he moved to Berlin where he taught Torah at the Beis Midrash of the philanthropist R. Daniel Yaffe (whose son-in-law, the renowned intellectual David Friedlnader continuously bothered him). In 1774, he was appointed Dayan in Lemberg and in 1781, Av Beis Din of Frankfurt an der Oder. Authored many Seforim: Teivat Gomeh, Porat Yosef, Ginat Veradim, the book before us - Rosh Yosef and above all, his commentary on the Shulchan Aruch - Pri Megadim.
