Yechiel Kriza, Israeli, born in Poland, 1968-1909.

Yechiel Kriza was born in Turk, Poland, in 1909. The family was a traditional family and Yechiel studied in a revised room of the Mizrachi movement. In 1922, his father immigrated to Eretz Israel and established a weaving workshop in Jerusalem. In 1924 the rest of the family joined him. Due to financial difficulties, the family moved to Petah Tikva, where the father served as a painter and Yehiel as his assistant. In the late 1920s he began working in the orchards of the colony. At that time, apparently, Crisis began to paint. In 1932 or 1933 he studied painting in Yosef Zaritzky's studio in Tel Aviv. In 1933 Kriza moved to Raanana and in 1941 he moved to Tel Aviv. Beginning in the 1940s, Kriza was very active among modern artists in the Land of Israel. In 1925 he visited Paris, France, was one of the founders of the gallery at Habima and exhibited at the "Exhibition of the Eight" (1942). Between 1950 and 1944 he served as secretary of the Association of Painters and Sculptors. In 1952 he visited Paris again and in 1958 spent a few months in New York, USA. He died in 1968 after a long battle with cancer.
Of the remaining Crisis works, the early ones date to the second half of the 1930s. These works, created in watercolor, present depictions of landscapes. Between the years 1952-1947 a lot of crunch to make use of the technique of painting in gouache. These works are characterized by expression and a tendency to abstract. After this period a lot of crunch to paint landscape mirrors with increasing degrees of abstraction. In 1962 he began a series of abstract paintings dominated by the white hue.
