Pair of Fundamental and Important Books of Halachah, First Editions

Orchot Mishor - elucidations and novellae on Tractate Nazir by Rabbi Meir Kremnitzer. Berlin, 1723. First edition.

One of the fundamental books on Tractate Nazir. The author saw that there were almost no commentaries written on this tractate, and there were many mistakes and printing errors. He therefore toiled to compose this book so that this tractate could be studied easily. The book is adorned with important approbations by rabbis of Poland.

Before us is a special variant. From the emphases in the year detail, the year 1728 [תפ"ח] works out, but in most copies, the emphases are for the correct year of print - 1723 [תפ"ג], so the year detail here may be using the 'prat gadol' - including the thousands digit.

This important elucidation was printed in the edition of Sha"s that was printed in Vilna - "Shas Vilna" - at the end of Tractate Nazir, and it is currently printed in most editions of the Talmud.

[2], 44; 8; 6 leaf, 30.5 cm.

Fine condition: Rabbinic signatures. Plywood binding.

* Tosafot Ri"d al Masechtot HaSha"s by Rabbeinu Yeshayah DeTrani, hidden several hundred years ... Lvov, 1862-1869. Two volumes bound together.

Before us is the first edition of this important commentary. This edition is adorned with the approbation of Rabbi Yosef Shaul Nathanson, who writes: When it was brought before me, I saw the spirit of the Tosafot Ri"d hovering over it. Rabbi Yosef Shaul Nathanson wrote several comments on the words of the Tosafot Ri"d .

Owners' stamps: Rabbi Avraham Chanoch Friedman of Satmar, grandson of the Chatam Sofer, studied with the author of Shevet Sofer and with Rabbi Yehudah Greenwald of Satmar, who raised him in his home after the former became an orphan. He was a dayan in Satmar. He was killed in the Holocaust.
