Torat Nevi'im known as Eleh HaMitzvot, the fundamentals of the Written Torah and Oral Torah, by Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Chajes. Zolkiew, 1836. First edition. Author's handwritten dedication.

Specifications: [5], 30; 18; 26, [1] leaves, 22 cm.

Unique Features: 13 chapters and three articles on the eternity of the Torah and the Oral Torah. The Chatam Sofer, when seeing a copy of the book, wrote the long last responsum in Shu"t Chatam Sofer Orach Chaim part one, (Responsum 208) relating to the book and wrote to the author: With blessings of life and peace ... the great and exalted, lofty ... Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Chajes, etc. To inform you with great love that on Shabbat I was overjoyed to receive his book Torat Nevi'im and I reviewed it, etc.

The copy before us has a dedication from the author in his handwriting to Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak Yuttas, author of She'erit Yaakov [1816-1886], one of the great rabbis of Lvov and a member of the author of the Shoel U'Meishiv's Beit Din, he also wrote Mikraei Kodesh and Ohel Yaakov.

Various rabbinic signatures and a few glosses, including Rabbi Reuven Margaliot of Lvov and more. The book is uncommon.

Background: Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Chajes [1856-1906], one of the great rabbis of Galicia, served as rabbi of Zolkiew at the recommendation of the author of Yeshuot Yaakov, wrote many books on all sections of the Torah and best known for his glosses on the Talmud which are currently printed in all editions of the Talmud.

Condition: Fine. Minimal worming holes. New binding.
