What Buchenwald Really Means - London, 1945 - First Edition

What Buchenwald Really Means, By Victor Gollancz – London, April, 1945. A rare publication revealing the involvement of the wider German population in collaboration with the Nazi party and its goals, and in particular regarding the Buchenwald death camp, was published in the month the camp was liberated by the Allies.

In his essay, kind of 'I blame' against Nazi Germany, the author goes on to prove the involvement of the entire German population in Nazi crimes, not only those who were SS commanders and soldiers. He states: "Germany is nothing but a huge gang that disperses and flees ... It is time to discuss it for its actions". The author quotes the remarks of the Nazi leaders themselves about what was done in the Buchenwald death camp, such as the remarks of the finance secretary of the Nazi War Ministry A. Henderson "we have no information that can point to equality between other prisoners of war camps and the appalling conditions prevailing in the concentration camps of German political prisoners like Buchenwald", and often demonstrate how the German population cooperated in the horrific crimes against the Jewish people.

The author, one of the first to identify the goals of the Nazi regime and as early as 1933 published the 'Brown Book' in which he exposed Hitler's terrorism. He then published the "Yellow Dot" in which he exposed the Nazi crimes against the Jews, and the important essay: "Let My People Go" - all those essays were published by him in the 1930s even before the Nazis set up mass concentration and extermination camps, and in all of them the author warned against The danger is approaching. Likewise, all those years the author published many articles in the press of the period, in which he reveals the real goals of the Nazi regime. At the time the publication before us was published, the data in the author's possession spoke of 4 million Jews being murdered.
