Mordechai. Riva DiTrino, 1558, Riva

Legal novellae and customs by Rabbi Mordechai ben Hillel HaKohen [Ashkenazi. Early edition, and first edition of the book on its own]. (Refer to Stefansky, Sifrei Yesod 139.)

The author, one of the Ba'alei HaTosafot, was martyred in sanctification of Hashem's name in Nuremberg in 1298. The book includes halachic conclusions in the order of the Talmud and hundreds of customs of Ashkenaz communities, and is one of the adjudicative books for Ashkenaz Jewry.

150 [1] 154-192 leaves, approximately 30 cm. Without the 'Simanei Mordechai' that is printed with its own dedicated title page.

Fine condition. Aging stains. Minimal worming perforations. Light restoration to the margins of the title page without damage to text. Magnificent leather binding.
