Rare: Dedication by Rabbi Mordechai Shlomo (Rav Shlomkeh) Berman on his book Asher LeShlomo. First edition, Bnei Brak, 1962

Includes exegeses and notes on a variety of issues, written by Mordechai Shlomo Berman. Stencil printing, first edition. [3] leaves, 135 pages. Binding is partially detached. Glued in after printing is an endorsement from the Grish Kahneman, Rosh Yeshivat Ponevezh, given probably after the printing and thus glued into the binding.

The blank first page has a handwritten dedication also signed by the author, addressed to Rabbi Yosef Erlinger (a student of the Gra’il Steinman in Switzerland).

Rabbi Mordechai Shlomo Berman (1930-2005) was a Rosh Yeshivat Ponevezh, son of Rabbi Yehuda Yitzhak. He was the son-in-law of the Steipler and brother-in-law of the Grach. He moved to Israel with his family in 1934. He was close to the Chazon Ish and slept in his home in his youth. The Chazon Ish required him to tell him his chiddushim and also obligated him to write them down. Rabbi Shlomleh is one of the only people whom the Chazon Ish mentioned by name in his books even though he refrained from doing so or most people. The Chazon Ish recommended to the Steipler that he wed Rav Shlomkeh to his daughter. He suffered for many years and even stopped giving his lessons at the Ponevezh yeshiva as a result, in 1986. Rav Shach, who was forced to undertake public engagements without him as a result of his illnesses, often complained that he missed Rav Shlomkeh who could help him. He wrote Asher LeShlomo on the Shas and Shiurei Asher LeShlomo, names given by the Steipler to his son-in-law’s works.
