1. Sefer HaMakneh on acquisitions, makneh and kinyan, including all of the details of the laws of bnei Noach, accompanied by an introduction to the book, a pamphlet on Aggadah called Tamar Devorah. By Rabbi Eleizer Zussman Sofer, Av Beit Din of Paksh. First section, first edition Pressburg 1877. [4], 16, [2], 274 pages. The title page has the stamp of his student Rabbi Akiva Blau of Kresna. Handwritten notes in a number of places, not checked thoroughly. Binding detached. A few tears. Stains. Overall good condition.

2. Sefer HaMakneh, third section of the same book. First edition, Paksh 1884. 8, 220, 220-254 pages. Title page has the stamp of his student Rabbi Akiva Blau of Kresna and a handwritten note by him: “This dear book written by my teacher and rabbi, belongs to me his student…”. Handwritten notes in a number of places, not checked thoroughly. No binding. A few tears. Stains. Overall good condition. 

Rabbi Akiva Blau (1883-1943) was the son of Rabbi Baruch of Paksh and grandson of Rabbi Akiva Klein of Nitra, after whom he was named. He was a student of the Shevet Sofer and Rabbi Eleizer Zussman Sofer. He was a rabbi of Kresna and became famous as a wine merchant. Dozens of letters from him are in Shut books of most Hungarian rabbis and others. He was murdered in the Shoah. (See: The Chatam Sofer and His Students; Hungarian Communities).
