Shulchan Aruch, the Even HaEzer, second section: “now added to the Rishonim, a new exegesis called the Pischei Tshuva, written by Rabbi Avraham Zvi Hirsch Eisenstadt, Rabbi in Otiyan.” First edition of the Pischei Tshuva on the Even HaEzer. Stefanski Sifrei Yesod #192. [4], 75, 176-309[7], [3] leaves. New binding, stains, overall good condition.
The title page of the book has the somewhat cut-off signature of “Yehoshua Falk Auerbach”. The blank first page has the stamp in another language by Rabbi Auerbach, and a note handwritten: “belongs to the Rabbi HaMaor HaGadol, charif u’baki, Yehoshua Falk Av Beit Din of Brisk, son of the Rabbi…Gaon Zvi Hirsch Av Beit Din of Kogin, I came Yaakov Zalman [?].”
Rabbi Yehoshua Falk Auerbach, son of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch (Av Beit Din of Kogin and a dayan in Lisa, cousin of Rabbi Meir Auerbach the Imrei Bina), who was himself the son of Rabbi Menachem Av Beit Din of Ostrovtza, son of Rabbi Haim Auerbach Av Beit Din of Luntshitz, the Divrei Mishpat, and father-in-law of the Malbim. He was Av Beit Din in Brisk (Brześć Kujawski, next to Warsaw) and, from 1890, Av Beit Din in Plotzk. Late in life he moved to Berlin and there served in the Rabbinate. His son: Rabbi Yitzhak Auerbach. Son-in-law: his brother, Rabbi Yitzhak Yitzik Auerbach, who served as rabbi in Frankfurt-am-Mein and Berlin. See Otzer Rabbanim 7776.
