Letter signed by Rabbi Yitzhak Meir Rapaport from when he was serving in Prague, about the kashrut of products from the US. Prague 1949.
Letter on official letterhead (written in Czech), typewritten, signed by Rabbi Yitzhak Meir Cohen Rapaport, Ra’avad of Prague after World War II. Addressed to rabbis of the US and Canada, in which he asks their “opinion about the oil sent here by the Joint [Distribution Committee] regarding its kashrut, there is nothing written on it except that it is “vegetable”, please update me so if I need to prevent others from this michshol.” Size: 14x21cm. Creases, light stains in the margins, overall very good condition.
Rabbi Yitzhak Meir Cohen Rapaport (1899-1970) was the son of Rabbi Yosef Haim of Rovo. He was the son-in-law of the naggid, Rabbi Avraham Avir Weiss of Tetsch and was saved from the Shoah when he was serving in the Czech military. After the war he served as Rabbi of Prague, and in 1950 moved to the United States and served as a rabbi in New York. In his second marriage he married the daughter of Rabbi Asher Rubin of Kortshin.
