"Our Holy Yeshiva is in a Very Difficult Material Condition", a Letter Requesting Assistance by the Gaon Rabbi Baruch Ber of Kemnitz to the Gaon Rabbi Ze'ev Leiter the Rabbi of Petersburg. Kemnitz - 1930

A letter with a request to support the "Knesset Beit Yitzchak" Yeshiva in Slabodka. By the Holy Gaon Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz, Gedol HaDor, Rosh Yeshivat "Knesset Beit Yitzchak" to the rabbi of Pittsburgh, Rabbi Ze'ev leiter. Kemnizt, 1930.

In the letter (which is mostly typewritten and at its end, several lines handwritten by the Birkat Shmuel), the Rosh Yeshiva appeals to his friend Rabbi Ze'ev leiter with a request to raise funds for the Yeshiva, writing: "This winter, the Yeshiva has got into debts of 10 thousand dollars and has no way to save itself ... since the situation is dire and help must be offered immediately". In addition, he mentions the refugee students of the yeshiva who escaped the Russian pogroms and who have no contact with their parents and will have nowhere to go to if, G-d forbid, the yeshiva will close. The rabbi ends the letter (with his own handwriting) with warm blessings to the donators and assistors.  In the letter, he also refers to his journey to the USA (a journey described in the literature) to raise funds and writes that the funds that had been raised have run out by paying the debts of the Yeshiva.
