A Pesach Haggadah with the commentary "Pedut Yaakov" by Rabbi Yaakov Lifshitz, Av Beit Din of Amstislaw. The commentary is according the simple meaning and according to the Kabbalah.
This is a single edition and an extraordinarily rare find. It is not found in libraries in Israel. Ya'ari 543, Otzar HaHaggadot (Yudlov) 752, listed this haggadah from the copy found in the Mehlmann Collection.
At the beginning of the book are approbations from the rabbis of Shklov, amongst them Rabbi Moshe Maggid Rivlin, the son of Rabbi Hillel Rivlin (approbations from him are extremely rare). Amongst other things the rabbis write about him: "holy and secluded, we know the man and his teachings where he teaches us about that which is revealed for us, and the hidden things of G-d, and with the desire and longing and yearning soul of the aforementioned rabbi his wellsprings will overflow".
The author, Rabbi Yaakov Lifshitz was born to his father, Rabbi Moshe Lifshitz, Av Beit Din of Amstislaw. After the death of his father he was appointed as rabbi of the city. He was known for his great genius in the hidden and revealed Torah, and for his great holiness.
