Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Yitzhak Dov HaLevy Bamberger of Wurzburg. 1862. Written in Gothic German on official stationery.
In the letter, Rabbi Bamberger appeals to the official committee supervising religious matters in the community stating that according to clause 31 of the Royal Law of the Bavarian Rule from 1813, the rabbi is responsible for the religious conduct of the community and he is the deciding factor regarding questions about the customs of the synagogue.
One page written on both sides.
