An Invitation to the Celebration Ceremonies on the Occasion of the Appointing of the Chief Rabbis – Rabbi Shlomo Goren and Rabbi Ovadia Yosef
a. An invitation to the celebration ceremony on the occasion of the election of Rabbi Shlomo Goren as the Chief Rabbi of Israel. The Great Synagogue in Tel Aviv. November 1972.
The program of the festivities, and a special "Mi ShBerach" prayer: "He Who blessed… He will bless the splendid one of Torah the genius of Israel and its glory…Rabbi Shlomo Goren who was chosen together with his colleague…Rabbi Ovadia Yosef…therefore for glory…as the Chief Rabbi of Israel…". "This invitation serves as a personal entrance".
Rabbi Shlomo Goren (1918 -1995) was known in his youth as a tremendous genius and learnt Torah with incredible diligence. In the year 1972 he was chosen to serve as the Chief Rabbi of Israel, after he had served as the Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv. In the framework of his position as Chief Rabbi of the I.D.F he dealt a lot with practical halachic questions such as the laws of Shabbat and the laws of agunot and the dead.

a. An invitation to a celebratory ceremony on the occasion of the election of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef as Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv. Committee of the Sephardi Community, Jerusalem, 7th April 1970.
The celebrations took place in the yeshiva "Tiferet Yerushalayim" in the Old City of Jerusalem, of which Rabbi Ovadia Yosef served as president.
Rabbi Ovadia Yosef (1918 – 2014) was born in Bagdad in Iraq and immigrated to Israel in the year 1924. At the age of only 24 Rabbi Uziel appointed him as a member of the Beit Din of the Sephardi community in Jerusalem. He was known for his incredible one-of-a-kind breadth of knowledge and as one of the most important halachic rulers of the generation and he returned the crown of Sephardi Jewry to its former glory.
