Five Books of the Torah – French – Paris 1830 – Complete Set

The five books of the torah with a commentary and translation to French from Rabbi Eliezer Wogue (1817-1897), a rabbi and teacher in France, the deputy chief rabbi of Paris and one of the leaders of French Jewry, very influential in the Jewish community and also known in the general community as a result of his scientific works, he served as a professor in a number of universities, but his main work was to confer the treasury of Jewish books on to the French speakers. The Chumash was the crowning glory of the expansive literary activities of the author, who translated and published tens of books in French on all of the Jewish topics.
The structure of the Chumash is a translation according the literal meaning, and also extensive explanations and footnotes. The commentary is crowned with an enthusiastic approbation from about twelve French rabbis and the heads of the Consistory, who praise the author for translating and commentating in the spirit of the Sages.
The structure of the Chumash is facing pages, where on one page appears the original in Hebrew and footnotes in French, and the numbering of the verses is in numbers and not in the traditional letters.
