The Zefat postage stamp is a special stamp issued by the management of the Yeshuv when the British left Israel in May 1948. The vacuum in the mail services had to be filled and to do so, M. Arye, whose reputation as a gifted artist preceded him, was recruited. Later, he was the one who illustrated the famous children's books Kofiko, Tzipopo, Danidin and Chasamba.
All in all, 2200 stamps of this kind were issued.
