KL AUSCHWITZ - RARE LETTER SENT FROM CAMP HOSPITAL 1944
Very rare KL Auschwitz letter sent from camp hospital in 1944 by a Polish inmate! Foldable type letter/envelope with stamp using camp stationery with guidelines. In KL Auschwitz hospital was located in Block 28a. Photo with mug shots attached is from Auschwitz museum archives. No stamp on the letter, . This prisoner called Heinrich Miczajka was a Pole born on June 1, 1914 in Brzezie nad Odrą. In 1924, the family moved to Rybnik. He was an official of the Municipal Technical Works in Rybnik. During the Nazi occupation he was a soldier of the ZWZ / AK underground organization. He was arrested on June 28, 1943 and transported to the detention prison in Mysłowice. From there, he was transferred to Auschwitz on 11.03.44 and registered as prisoner No. 175040. He stayed in the camp until 27.01.1945 - he escaped from it, just before liberation by the Soviet army. After the liberation, he started to work as an accountant at Miejski Przedsiębiorstwo Gospodarki Komunalnej in Rybnik. He died on June 8, 1966 and he is buried at the Rybnik cemetery. From photos it seems he had some kind of deformity or physical problem, but his life tells us he was a brave soldier and he could survive the horror of the most infamous Nazi concentration camp!
