THOMAS HUTCHINSON
(1711 - 1780) Royalist Colonial Governor of Massachusetts whose support of the Stamp Act led to the burning of his home. His repressive policies hastened the onset of the Revolution. Partly-printed D.S. as Probate Court Justice, 1p. oblong 8vo., Boston, Aug. 20, 1756, authorizing three individuals to appraise the estate of a recently-deceased citizen within their county. Hutchinson signs at the conclusion. Matted with a portrait, then framed to a total size of 17 x 11 in. Trimmed with notable spots of foxing, just good condition.
