MARK W. CLARK
(1896 - 1984) American general, commanded the landings at Salerno and Anzio against the forces of Kesselring. Lot of four signed items, includes: Signed envelope, 1p. oblong 12mo., celebrating the fall of Rome to American forces and prominently displaying a printed image of Clark as General of the Fifth Army, bearing a red stamp reading 'ROME LIBERATED…JUNE 4TH, 1944' and bearing a June 4, 1944 cancel. Clark signs at bottom in black ink. Fine. WITH: I.S.P., 8 x 10 in. b/w, showing the general in uniform, seated at a desk with an American flag in the background, signed along bottom white margin. Minor surface creases, crease on bottom-right corner, else fine. WITH: Two T.L.S. on 'The Citadel' letterhead, each 1p. 4to., Charleston, Aug. 15 and 30, 1974, forwarding signed materials to Jonathan Edward Schwartz, signed at the conclusion in blue ink. Mailing folds, some slight creasing, else very good to fine.
