Knife shaved ware. Terracotta juglet with lug handle; whitish clay; knife pared, terminating in a pointed base. 17.5 cm. x 5.5 diam. Cf. Amiran, R. Ancient Pottery of the Holy Land, Jerusalem 1969, pl. 55, no. 12 and 15 for similar. Minor repair to rim. This vessel is a Cypriot prototype later copied in Israel.
Late Bronze Age ca. 1550-1200 B.C.E. is characterized by prolific trade in the Eastern Mediterranean. That all comes to an abrupt stop with the migrations of the Sea Peoples from the Aegean to the eastern Mediterranean littoral. The parallel story in the Biblical narrative as the exodus from Egypt.
