Me'Rosh Pina Ve'Ad Aco (From Rosh Pina to Acre) – Booklet Printed on the Seventh day after the Execution of Shlomo ben Yosef, Tel Aviv, 1938, Rare
A rare booklet which contains "the details of the arrest, the trial and the impression it had made in Israel and around the world". Printed a week after the execution of Shlomo ben Yosef.
The title page bears a picture of Shlomo ben Yosef and his defense attorney.
Shlomo ben Yosef was an illegal immigrant and a member of Beitar in Israel, the first among those who were executed by the British during the Mandate. He was caught by the British while trying to avenge the death of Jews by Arabs and was sentenced to death. He walked to the gallows with a smile, tall and proud, singing one of the Beitar songs. Just before he died, he shouted "Long Live Jabotinsky!" In his will, which was found a few years ago, he wrote: "I have nothing; I want nothing for myself. Everything is for the nation – the Jewish nation".
