A eulogy and a special mercy prayer for the funeral of the German emperor Friedrich III

Eulogy and a special 'א-ל מלא רחמים' prayer on the day of the funeral of the German Emperor Friedrich III, edited by Rabbi Eliyahu Plesner - Ostrov-Mazov. The eulogy prayer for the German emperor was held in his synagogue. June 1888 - German and Hebrew.

The author of the eulogy is the genius of Rabbi Eliyahu Plesner (1898-1841) Av Beit Din of Ostrov. Was a disciple Rabbi Ya'akov Ettlinger and Rabbi Eliyahu Gutmacher of Graditz.

Friedrich III (1831-1888) was the emperor of Germany and king of Prussia for only 99 days. In 1869 he visited the Middle East on the occasion of the inauguration of the Suez Canal on November 16. Then he also visited Jerusalem, and received from the Sultan Abdel Aziz territory in the Morristan district of Jerusalem, where he laid the cornerstone for the Church of the Redeemer inaugurated by his son Emperor Wilhelm II, some 30 years later. Many people in the world, and in Germany in particular, saw his death not only as a tragic death in itself, but also as a disaster for the entire German nation. The year 1888 is known as "Dreikaiserjahr" (the year of the three emperors), since in only one year three emperors were replaced in Germany: Wilhelm I, Friedrich III and Wilhelm II.
