Palestine/Yishuv: 'Tower & Stockade' settlement initiative "Meguyas" ('recruited') pin, circa. 1936-1939; not maker-marked. Depicts image of Tower & Stockade settlement with Hebrew legend "Recruited". Tower & Stockade was a quick structual erection system devised by Shlomo Gur & Yochanan Ratner, enabling quick transport & erection of settlements, bypassing British restriction on new Jewish settlements in Palestine: mobility enabled securing hold of remote regions, to strenthen Jewish settlement contiguity and fortified protection to inhabitants & surroundings. Pin was issued to volunteers who assisted with transport & erection of Tower & Stockade settlements; here numbered per label on back 43931.
