METCHNIKOFF ÉLIE: (1845-1916) Also known as Ilya Mechnikov. Russian Zoologist. Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1908. Metchnikoff is best known for his pioneering works in immunology, widely regarded as the ''father of natural immunity''.
