DUTCH ''NEDERLANDS ARBEIDSFRONT'' MEMBERSHIP BOOK AND WORK PERMIT
The Nederlandsche Arbeidsfront (NAF) was a National Socialist trade union federation founded on April 30, 1942 by a decree by Reich Commissioner Arthur Seyss-Inquart. Many trade unions in the Netherlands were dissolved by order of the German occupying forces and members were expected to join the Labor Front. D.S., 20pp. 12mo., an NAF membership book issued Jan. 1, 1943 to a 48 year old man in Rotterdam. WITH: a very late war D.S., 1p. 12mo., Rotterdam, May 2, 1945, a permit in Dutch and German allowing the named individual to work at a Luftwaffe air base in exchange for food. At this period in time, the Dutch were literally starving due to interrupted lines of communication, this just prior to Operation Chowhound. Two pieces.
