HANS ULRICH RUDEL
(1916 - 1982) Stuka dive-bomber pilot during World War II, the most highly decorated German serviceman of the war. Rudel was the only person to be awarded the Knight's Cross with Golden Oak Leaves, Swords, and Diamonds. Twice-signed photograph, 4 x 5.75 in. b/w, showing a chest-up view of the pilot in uniform on the photo side, signed at bottom with only fair contrast, adding the date "18.5.78". The reverse side bears a typed note in German, translated in part: "Am most of the time in South America...Am rarely in your area..." Rudel again signs at the conclusion in blue ink. Moderate crease on right edge with second crease through signature at photo side, else very good.
