ANGELA HITLER
ANGELA HITLER
(1883 - 1949) Elder half-sister of Adolf Hitler. By her first husband, Leo Raubal, Sr., she was the mother of Hitler's alleged lover, Geli Raubal. On Jan. 20, 1936 she married architect Prof. Martin Hammitzsch who later became the Director of the State School of Building Construction in Dresden and committed suicide at war's end. Incredibly rare signed postcard, 5.5 x 3.5 in., dated April 9, 1933, prominently showing an image of 'Haus Wachenfeld' - Hitler's Berchtesgaden vacation home where Angela Hitler and Geli Raubal had lived for many years, later rebuilt and renamed the 'Berghof'. As the Fuhrer's housekeeper and head of the 'Haus Wachenfeld', Angela writes on the reverse to one JOHANNES PANT, a priest in the Vienna hostel where Hitler once lived and often believed to be responsible for the 'cover up' burial of Geli Raubal, adding: 'Could you please let me know if you have got the Serapaal things. At the same time, I wish you a happy Easter and send kind regards.' Angela signs 'Geli' at the conclusion in black ink. Fine condition, with April 4, 1933 cancel. Three years after moving into the 'Haus Wachenfeld', Adolf Hitler's possessiveness and control of Geli Rebault led to her suicide in 1931 at the age of 23, when she shot herself in Hitler's Munich apartment with Hitler's Walther pistol. Yet Angela Hitler continued to work for her half-brother after her daughter's death, eventually leaving Berchtesgaden after her strong disapproval of Hitler's relationship with Eva Braun.
