JUAN PERON
(1895 - 1974) Argentinean dictator deposed in a military coup but returned to power. His administration much improved the nation's welfare, but was marred by graft and corruption. Great association partly-printed D.S., 1p. 16 x 12.5 in., Buenos Aires, Nov. 29, 1951, awarding the National Order of Merit to Professor GEORGE T. PACK (1898-1969), renowned American oncologist who Peron famously consulted concerning the cancer of his wife, First Lady Eva Peron. In the same year this document was issued, Pack was secretly flown into Argentina to operate on the First Lady; she was unaware of the cancer diagnosis and died the following year.
