FULGENCIO BATISTA
(1901 - 1973) Cuban soldier and corrupt dictator whose brutal regime was overthrown by Fidel Castro's revolution in 1959. Great content typed D.S. in Spanish, 1p. legal folio, Havana, Nov. 19, 1956, an executive order adding two seats onto the Cuban Supreme Court, including one seat for "the government secretary of the Supreme Court...that would be in charge of the processing and fulfillment of the matters submitted in the chamber..." Ominously, Article II of the law explicitly states "The President of the Republic...only will name the people that should occupy the charges...being created...". Batista signs at the conclusion. The bottom bears a partial blue ribbon and damaged seal, both of which just touch the slightly smudged signature. Unevenly toned, slightly ragged top edge, else very good.
