ZACHARY TAYLOR
(1784 - 1850) Twelfth President of the United States, "Old Rough and Ready" was also a hero of the Mexican War, taking Monterrey and defeating Santa Anna. Manuscript L.S. as colonel of the 1st Infantry Regiment between the Black Hawk War and the Second Seminole War, 1p. 4to., ""Head Qrs. 1st Infantry, Fort Crawford", Nov. 6, 1832 to Adjutant Gen. R. Jones in Washington. In part: "...Herewith you will receive a Muster Roll of...Companies A, B, D, F & G...together with a return of this post for the last month..." Boldly signed, adding rank at conclusion. Fine condition.
