Sefer Klei Yakar - R. Shmuel Laniado - Venice 1603. An Impressive copy.

A complete copy of Sefer Klei Yakar, a commentary on Nevi’im Rishonim (Yehoshua, Shoftim, Shmuel, Melachim), authored by 16th century Torah scholar R. Shmuel Laniado (d. 1605), a Dayyan in Aleppo, Syria. Besides this commentary on Nevi’im, he authored several others, including a commentary on the Torah called Keli Chemda (Venice 1595), and Keli Paz on Yeshaya. Because of his many works all starting with ‘Keli’, he is fondly known as the “Ba’al HaKeilim”.

In addition to his published works, many were extant only in manuscript. Chidah attests that his manuscript “Sechel Tov”, a commentary on Midrash Shocher Tov, was in his possession. This edition was brought to print by his son R. Avrham Laniado, who also served as a Dayyan in Syria.

An impressive copy in fine condition. Printed on crisp white paper. Title page partly restored, affecting one letter of text on verso.
