Rare: Seder Tikkun HaShulchan - Compiled by Grandson of Taz, Amsterdam 1725.

Seder Tikkun HaShulchan was compiled and published by R. Leib of Yanov (Janów, Poland), a grandson of the famed R. David Segal, author of Turei Zahav. His father, R. Yitzchak Segal, was a son-in-law of the Taz. In it, one finds various verses and liturgies said upon sitting down to a meal, divided according to the days of the week, as well as the 613 commandments and Mishnayot. During his many travels, especially amongst the Italian Jewish Community, R. Leib acquainted himself with this work and would always recite the various verses and portions of the Mishnah before and during eating.

An interesting side point is mentioned by R. Leib, how he was planning to publish his grandfather’s handwritten manuscripts. Unfortunately, this plan never came to fruition due to lack of funds. He didn’t feel comfortable printing only a small portion of the manuscript, so he opted to publish this work instead.

A very interesting and rare work.

Marginal notes in Italian hand seen on some leaves.

72 pp. 12cm. In overall good condition. Paper browned, typical of Amsterdam imprints of the era.

Vinograd, Amsterdam 1267.
