Pair of Classical Intaglios
Pair of classical style intaglios, including:
One in red glass with a central ionic column, a reclining lion below that, two cranes on either side of the column, perched on balls. On either side of the cranes, an ear of wheat. At the top of the column, two birds and a radiating orb.
One in brown opaque hardstone featuring two figures, one human form holding a scepter, the other with an animal head. Both under and arc of stars with a crescent moon and orb in the center. Marked with Roman numerals and letters, also marked with Roman numerals and letters along the reverse. Damaged and repaired.
(Red) Length: 29.30 mm x width: 25.01 mm x depth: 1.62 mm. (Brown) Length: 35.04 mm x 28.24 mm x 4.06 mm. Gross weight of lot: 11.6 grams.
Condition: The brown intaglio broke in two places and repaired, some pitting at the back potentially natural to the stone. The red with surface wear and losses to the edges.
