2 Daguerreotype Portrait Photographs of Children
Group of two Daguerreotype portrait photographs of children. One quarter plate photograph depicting a young boy in a cavalry uniform. One sixth plate photograph depicting a seated girl in a hand-painted pink dress. Both housed under glass in gilt frames encased by a stamped leather and wood cases.

Provenance: Property from the distinguished collection of Mr. James Lee Soffer, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

(Girl) Height: 3 3/4 in x width: 3 1/4 in x depth: 1/2 in. (Boy) Height: 4 3/4 in x width: 3 3/4 in x depth: 1/2 in.
Condition: (Girl) There is discoloration to the edges of the metal plate. There is a hook-shaped scratch to the metal plate through the center. Some accretions and discoloration to the glass. Some small dark spots along the gilt metal. Wear to the case as expected with age and use. Lacking one half of the case. (Boy) There is discoloration to the edges. There is a chip to the glass to the lower right and upper left corners. Heavy wear to the case commensurate with age and use. Lacking one half of the case.
