5 Sixth Plate Daguerreotype Portraits of Men
Group of five sixth plate Daguerreotype portrait photographs of men. All housed under glass in gilt metal frames encased by a stamped leather and wood case - one with blue velvet lining. One man sits with a book dated 1825.

Provenance: Property from the distinguished collection of Mr. James Lee Soffer, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

(Each) Height: 3 3/4 in x width: 3 1/4 in x depth: 1/2 in.
Condition: All with discoloration to the metal plate along the edges. Spots of oxidization to the metal frames throughout. Four of the portraits are missing one half of the case. The one photograph with both halves has damage to the spine and the separation of the two pieces seems imminent. Wear to the cases as expected with age and use.
