Liu Pai-luang "Liu Boluan" (Taiwanese, b. 1923). Calligraphic ink on paper scroll. Liu Pai-luang is a contemporary Taiwanese artist and teacher. He is a Daoist practitioner, working to incorporate free expression and Daoist principles into traditional calligraphy. His work has been exhibited in Europe, the United States, and Japan. This work, executed in a swift cursive script, explores how ink and water, when applied to an unusual piece of paper, can create beautiful but uncontrolled effects.
