Beit Yisrael by the Maggid of Kozhnitz. First Edition.

Sefer Beit Yisrael - novellae on Tractates Berachot, Eiruvin, Shabbat, Rosh HaShanah and Sukkah, by Rabbi Yisrael son of Rabbi Shabtai - the maggid of Kozhnitz. Warsaw, 1864. First edition.

First edition of the most sacred maggid of Kozhnitz's Talmudic novellae.

The maggid of Kozhnitz was one of the most prominent Admo"rim of the generations; he shook the world with his sanctity and with his wonders. Chassidic works relate much about the maggid of Kozhnitz's wonders, and about his greatness in Kabbalistic (hidden) wisdom. This book expresses his massive genius specifically in revealed wisdom - he was known already in his youth as a prodigy and was one of the leading disciples (in the revealed aspects of Torah) of the Rebbe R' Shmelke in the yeshivah of Nikolsberg even before the arrival of the maggid of Mezeritch.
