Ahavat Dodimֲ- commentary on Shir HaShirim in both hidden and revealed approaches, by the maggid of Zaloshitz, disciple of the Ba'al Shem Tov. Only edition. Lemberg, 1793.

Before us is an important and uncommon Chassidic book, in which the author cites from his teachers 'the elder kabbalist, the expert Chassid Rabbi Yisrael Ba'al Shem, zllh"h' [the Ba'al Shem Tov]. See pages: 6b, 9a, 11a; and in the name of the maggid of Mezeritch on page 46b, and in the name of Rabbi Yechiel Michel of Zlotshov on page 79a. The leaves after the title page bear eleven approbations from leading Admo"rs of Chassidut and important rabbis, including an approbation from Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev, zy"a, who gave the approbation to this book on his way through Lvov, per the request of the author's son.

The author: Rabbi Binyamin, "The Maggid of Zaloshitz, " was one of the leading disciples of the Ba'al Shem Tov, the maggid of Mezeritch and Rabbi Yechiel Michel of Zlotshov. Rabbi Binyamin was expert in the revealed and hidden [aspects of Torah] and one of the major transmitters of the Written Torah of Chassidic doctrine in the first period of the Chassidic movement.
