Rabbi Menachem Mendel Halberstam, was born as the eldest son of Rabbi Avraham Shalom Halberstam, the first Rebbe of Stropkov, and Yahya Yehudit, the daughter of Rabbi Avraham Chaim Horowitz of Linsk. Rabbi Chaim Halberstam (the "Devre Haim") of Sanz served as godfather in his circumcision, he was named after his grandfather Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Linsk.
As a child he was orphaned by his mother and raised in Beit Zekino of Shinawa, at his choice he received a ordination from Rabbi Shmuel Engil Abd of Radomishla, married Esther, daughter of Rabbi Yaakov Kopel Farnes from the head of the community in Gerlitz and the groom Rabbi Yosef Ze'ev Makshanov grandson of Havri Haim of Sanz.
After the war, he immigrated to the USA, where he re-established the Stropkov Chassidus, he was a well-known master and many played for his development.
