Rabbi Yosef Chaim, was a son of Rabbi Eliyahu and grandson of Rabbi Moshe Chayim – Rabbi of Baghdad, and a disciple of Rabbi Abdallah Somekh – author of Zivchei Tzedek. He was a great halachic authority, Kabbalist and author of numerous rabbinic works and the recognized rabbinical authority by the Jews of Iraq and many other oriental communities. His works are studied and revered by both Sefardim and Ashkenazim.
His most famous works are: Ben Ish Chai, Ben Ish Chayil, Rav Pe’alim and Ben Yehoyada.
The manuscripts of the Ben Ish Chai are considered to be a segula for success and protection.
