R' Yehuda Leib Edal (1757-1828), was known as a great Talmid Chochom and Mekubal, as well an expert Darshan, and was particularly proficient in Aggada, Midrash and Dikduk. When the Gaon saw his Sefer on Dikduk, he was greatly impressed and requested to meet him, and he became close to the Gaon. He served as the Maggid of Slonim and authored the famed Afikei Yehuda, which includes his famous hesped on the Vilna Gaon, among other seforim.
