André-Gustave Citroën (1878- 1935) was a French industrialist who founded the Citroën automobile company in 1919, leading it to become the fourth-largest automobile manufacturer in the world by the early 1930s. In 1930 Citroën also started manufacturing scaled down versions of his production for children (mostly 1/10th scale). This was an instant success and the still existing versions sell nowadays at prohibitive prices.
