Watercolor - framed and signed. Size with frame: 84*64 cm.
Isaac Tarkay was born in Subotica, Serbia. As a 9-year-old boy, he was brought with his family to the Mauthausen concentration camp. After being rescued, the family immigrated to Israel in 1949 where they first lived in temporary housing in Beer Ya'akov. Later they lived in the kibbutz for several years. In 1951, Isaac won a scholarship to study at the Avni Institute.
Exhibited in Israel and the United States and was represented in the 90s and early 2000s by the Perry Art Gallery in NYC owned by Dr. Israel Perry. His paintings, many of which feature women, were a commercial success. He painted in oil, acrylic, water colors, and created many prints. Most days he moved to a more quantitative work, in which he created the drawings and artists who worked with him colored them.
In 2000, the Israeli Society for Medals and Coins minted a medal with a painting of Tarkay. In 2008, he was awarded the title of beloved of the city of Holon.
