Description:

A British "Crown" coin from 1980, issued to commemorate the 80th birthday of the Queen Mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon.
Obverse (shown in the picture): Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (daughter), designed by Arnold Machine.

Reverse: Portrait of the Queen Mother surrounded by lions and bows motifs (a reference to her original surname, Bowes-Lyon).

Historical significance: This was the first time in the history of British coinage that portraits of a reigning monarch and his mother appeared on the same coin.

Diameter of the coin 38 mm.
