"Opal is the birthstone of the month of October. Its name comes from the Greek word "change of color", and the stone does excel in bright flashes of color. The darker the opal stone, and has a greater variety of colors, the rarer and more expensive it is."
"The opal is identified with the Hashem stone, one of the stones that appears in the high priest's breastplate. The stone was attributed to the tribe of Dan."
