All items of this auction that were given directly by the Rebbe were thoroughly checked by the auction house to determine who received them from the Rebbe. For most of them, we received additional evidence such as a photograph taken when the item was received and varied authenticity tests.
The recipients' names were obscured in most of the items, at the request of their owners, and will be revealed to the buyers. Description:
"Sefer Igeret Hakodesh, by the Rav... Marana Verabbana Shneur Zalman... full of wisdon and Mussar Haskel... printed in Sulzbach in 1787". Apparently printed in Zholkva in ca. 1850. 32 leaves. Stains. Som emoth perforations and small tears along the edges. No binding. Good overall condition.
Rare edition! An edition of Igeret Hakodesh from Sefer HaTanya that was printed in Zholkva in ca. 1850 - the title page was forged. According to it it, as stated, the book was printed in Sulzbach in 1787. Igeret Hakodesh printed here is based on the Shklow 1814 edition without the approbation and the two last chapters of Kuntres Acharon. Varied ownership signatures on the title page: "יעקב יונה מהוסאקאב", ו"ישראל בירגער" and ownership stamps: "Marele rabin Eisig Rosenbaum Bucuresti" (referring to Rabbi Isaac Rosenbaum of Bucharest), a descendant of the Nadvorna Chassidut.
