Siddur Torah Or and Sha'ar Hakollel by the Admor Hazaken - First Edition of Sha'ar Hakollel Vilna, 1896

Siddur Torah Or with Sha'ar Hakollel, Ari vesrion, new, revised edition ... with the Dinim and Minhagim founded by the Admor…Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the author of the Shulchan Aruch HaRav and the Tanya. Prayers for the entire year (weekday, Moadim, High Holidays), with the Pesach Haggadah, Sha'ar Hakollel, Ma'avar Yabok and Dinim and Minhagim - first edition of Sha'ar Hakollel (see below). Printed by the Rom Widow and Brothers. Vilna 1896.

This siddur was edited by the Rebbe's grandfather Rabbi Avraham David Lavut and divided into two sections with separate title pages. The first contains only what had been printed in the first Siddurim printed during the Admor HaZaken’s lifetime, while most of the printing errors of previous editions were corrected and with references to sources of Biblical verses and Maamarei Chazal, which is why it was titled Torah Or. On leaf 72, a prayer for the Emperor. T he second section, Sha'ar Hakollel, was printed here for the first time with this title and is an addition not printed in previous editions to what was titled Sha'arei Tefilah of the 1887 edition [See: list of Siddur Torah Or editions at the end of Siddur Torah or Kehat 1987 and Sha'ar Hakollel published by Kehat]. At the beginning of the Siddur there is an approbation by the Maharil of Yanovitz, brother of the Baal HaTanya.

Two title pages for the first section one of them with red letteringand a separate title page for the second section. 188, [1]; 49, 49-97, 77 leaves. Partial mispagination. Has not been examined on a leaf-by-leaf basis, apparently, some leaves are missing. Leaf 5 and leaves 17-18 are missing and were replaced with leaves from another Siddur. Marks of usage. Stains, tears and taping. Moth perforations and damage. Damage to text in several places. Old binding with a leather spine with minor blemishe. Fair overall condition.
